Responsibilities

Friend Interaction team is mainly focusing on building a reliable and adaptive platform that enables users to meet and interact with their real-life friends seamlessly on TikTok, and encourage them to share their life moments with each other and stay connected regardless of where they are. Some core features and components we build and maintain include Story, Video Like, Comment, Friends Tab, Inbox Tab, Repost, TikTok Now feature and standalone app, etc. We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2026. Internships at TikTok aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. Turn your ambitions into reality as your inspiration brings infinite opportunities at TikTok. Internships at TikTok aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. A vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops will be available for you to explore. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. It runs for 12 weeks. Responsibilities As an intern on the Friend Interaction team, you will: - Develop business critical systems and features that powers TikTok social experiences - Improve system design and architecture to ensure high stability and performance of the services - Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams to deliver high quality work in rapid product development - Promote robust and maintainable code, clear documentation, and deliver high-quality work on a tight schedule

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate/Master/PhD in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline - Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026 - Proficient in at least one of the following languages: Go, Java, C++, Python - Deep understanding of computer architectures, data structures and algorithms Preferred Qualifications - Graduating December 2026 onwards with the intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship. - Strong communication and teamwork skills By submitting an application for this role, you accept and agree to our global applicant privacy policy, which may be accessed here:

[For Pay Transparency]Compensation Description (Hourly) - Campus Intern

The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $45- $45.


Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Interns have day one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and more. Interns also receive 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in first half of year, 40 if hired in second half of year). Interns who are not working 100% remote may also be eligible for housing allowance.
