Cargo Security Compliance Officer Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce security and screening policies and procedures for cargo operations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance with security protocols and identify areas for improvement.
  • Understanding of the AOSSP and its requirements.
  • Remain updated on the latest AOSSP guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance and help maintain the security of air cargo shipments.
  • Monitor and analyze security-related incidents, identify trends, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security requirements are integrated into cargo operations processes.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees regarding security protocols and best practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to cargo security and compliance.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with security regulations.
  • Investigate and report security incidents, including theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate security measures.
  • Stay informed about emerging security threats and technologies, and make recommendations for enhancements to security systems and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to security compliance, including incident reports, training records, and security plans.
  • Supports all corporate and local initiatives to drive optimal performance at the station while promoting a safe environment for internal/external customers and preserving our corporate culture. Assures operations are compliant

Security Compliance Officer Requirements :

  • Previous experience in security compliance, preferably within the cargo or logistics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant security regulations, such as TSA (Transportation Security Administration) guidelines.
  • Familiarity with cargo operations processes, including shipping, handling, and storage.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify security risks and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using security-related software and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Certification in relevant security management or compliance programs is a plus (e.g., Certified Cargo Security Professional).
  • Monitor/maintain and ensure compliance for all Security Screening Directives
  • Ensure consistent and professional handling of OAL Contracts
  • Maintain and monitor all aspects of Corporate Compliance for the air freight product, which includes but is not limited to all Regulatory programs (FAA, DOT, CBP, USPS, TSA, OSHA) as well as specific Import & Export compliance standards
  • Cargo security screening (100% required)
  • Hazmat/Dangerous Goods training and compliance
  • ULD airworthiness compliance
  • OSHA and safety compliance; Audit compliance
  • Internal / External Customer Interaction; Interfacing with customers, other department counterparts and peers
  • Required to work various hours, weekends and holidays as the operation requires
  • Up to 25% travel
  • Successful candidate must be able to clear a criminal history check to obtain and retain credentials necessary for position. Specific clearances include but are not limited to FAA / TSA / Airport Authority / US Customs.
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
