Position Summary:
The Lead Bartender is responsible for overseeing the bar operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining a high standard of beverage quality. This role involves managing the bar team, coordinating with other staff, and contributing to the overall success of the establishment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and lead a team of bartenders and bar staff.
- Provide training and mentorship to new and junior bartenders.
- Assign tasks, manage schedules, and ensure staff adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Beverage Preparation and Service:
- Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including specialty cocktails.
- Ensure that drinks are prepared to the highest quality and presentation standards.
- Experiment with and create new drink recipes to enhance the menu.
- Customer Interaction:
- Greet customers, take orders, and provide recommendations based on their preferences.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and efficiency.
- Foster a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for all guests.
- Bar Management:
- Oversee the bars daily operations, including opening and closing duties.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar.
- Ensure that all bar equipment is in good working condition and report any issues for repair.
- Inventory Control:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of beverages and bar supplies.
- Conduct regular stock checks and place orders as needed.
- Keep accurate records of inventory usage, sales, and waste.
- Cash and Financial Management:
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately.
- Balance cash drawers and prepare end-of-shift financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with financial and cash handling procedures.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to local and state liquor laws and regulations.
- Verify the legal drinking age of customers and manage responsible alcohol service.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Event Planning and Execution:
- Assist in planning and executing special events, promotions, and private parties.
- Create and serve specialty drinks tailored to event themes and customer preferences.
- Coordinate with other staff to ensure smooth event operations.
- Training and Development:
- Train staff on bartending techniques, customer service, and safety protocols.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and techniques to continuously improve the bars offerings.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer service.
- Collaborate with management to set and achieve goals for the bar.
- Monitor staff performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Extensive experience as a bartender, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven track record of managing a high-volume bar or restaurant setting.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional knowledge of drink recipes, mixology techniques, and beverage preparation.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling.
- Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of local and state liquor laws.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Familiarity with inventory management and cost control.
