Job Description

Job Title: Operations Supervisor/Manager

Department: Operations

Reports to: Division Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for supervising daily performance of routes and staff across multiple lines of business, including Residential, Commercial, and Roll-Off waste services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise, organize, and schedule drivers/helpers to complete collection routes efficiently
  • Resolve residential, commercial, and municipal service complaints
  • Analyze operational data and metrics for route performance and efficiency
  • Manage staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management
  • Address and resolve safety issues and claims
  • Plan and implement operational procedures for waste receipt and disposal
  • Coordinate with maintenance on daily operational needs
  • Monitor driver and labor time and attendance
  • Promote and enforce workplace safety; investigate and resolve incidents or equipment concerns
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve employee relations issues
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations
  • Audit operational documentation related to routes
  • Oversee relationships with contractors and staffing agencies
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and trainings
  • Willingness to run routes as needed
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years supervisory experience in transportation and/or logistics
  • Waste industry experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations for commercial vehicles
  • Proven record of promoting safety and managing workplace incidents
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Skilled in problem solving, critical thinking, and decision making
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms
  • Exposure to physical environments with moving mechanical parts, fumes, dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Must hold a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
