POSITION TITLE: Reading Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Literacy
REPORTS TO: Educational Programs Coordinator
SALARY/FLSA STATUS: Part Time/Hourly
ORGANIZATION MISSION:
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay is to provide high-quality, out-of-school Club experiences to ensure our young people, especially those who need us most, are on track to graduate from high school with a plan for their future, demonstrate good character & citizenship, and live a healthy lifestyle.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Reading Specialist is a key member of Club programs that will increase literacy development of Club members. The individual will be responsible for working closely with the Literacy Director and Coordinator while implementing the literacy program at his/her designated Boys & Girls Club location in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas County. The Reading Specialist will also collaborate with all Club staff.
The Reading Specialist will be familiar with reading research, reading standards, reading assessments, evidence-based reading strategies, and use this information to identify gaps, support growth, and plan for individual and small group instruction. This position is after school, part time, up to 15 hours a week.
Training in Social/Emotional Learning and/or Trauma Informed Care is a plus. The successful candidate in collaboration with the Literacy Director and Coordinator, will plan, implement, and evaluate strategies and activities provided within the literacy program.

TRAVEL:
Travel may be required to multiple Club facilities throughout Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas County for training and/or other business purposes.
