The Department of Sports Medicine Orthopaedics at the University of Miami is currently seeking a full time Research Assistant to work in Miami, FL. The Research Assistant contributes with research investigators by providing research and experimentation support while following established protocols. Further, the Research Assistant performs a clerical role to ensure the smooth operations of office facilities. Core job functions include setting up and operating various scientific apparatus and making minor repairs, preparing correspondence and answering phones, formulating and maintaining bibliographies, completing applications and forms, ordering laboratory supplies and maintaining culture media reagents, reviewing and editing various materials for publication, preparing publication schedules, maintaining appropriate logs, records, and study notebooks, and adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures to safeguard University assets. The Research Assistant supports the Research Leadership and Principal Investigator of designated research projects, performs functions required by research protocols with attention to participant safety, ensures all requirements of the research protocol are met, ensures compliance with regulatory standards for each protocol, completes detailed paperwork in strict accordance with regulatory requirements, and interacts with physicians, patients, sponsors, and other departments in a service excellence manner. Travel between entities as needed. Education required is a High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Skills include accuracy, attention to detail, ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure, ability to handle confidential information with discretion, ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary, commitment to the University’s core values, and ability to work independently and/or collaboratively.
