Job Description

Functioning within the Health System's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients during their shift. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, using age-specific criteria and clinical skills. Additionally, the RN assists in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff, including LPNs/PCTs and Unit Secretaries.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.


• Utilize scientific knowledge and clinical skills to make informed judgments.


• Teach and direct non-RN staff as necessary.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of nursing experience - Required


• Experience in chest tube and drain management - Required


• Post-operative open heart care experience - Required


• Pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access - Required


• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips - Required


• Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities - Required


• Experience in assisting with chest tube removal and managing temporary pacers - Required


• Critical care experience - Highly Preferred


• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) - Required


• Must float to all units within skill level - Required
