RE: Employment in the Superyacht Industry
Thank you for considering our application for employment. We are Sam (26) and Tahlia (21), a couple from NSW Australia.

I am a qualified Mechanical Engineer, having completed my Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Honours (Scholar) in 2018 at the University of Wollongong. My partner, Tahlia, is currently studying Bachelor of Business, online, at the University of New England. We have both recently completed (Nov 2022) our STCW training with Galileo Maritime Academy, Thailand, along with proficiency certificates in Food Hygiene Level 2 and Powerboat, Tender and Ribmaster
course.

We both also hold our RYA International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft (ICC), to align with our shared passion for the ocean, and assist in our goals of pursuing work in the boating industry. In conjunction with our recognised training attained, we have also accumulated over 800 NM sea time, chartering our family’s catamaran ‘O2’ (see attached logbooks).

My professional engineering career has allowed me to work in various job roles including projects as a support engineer, engineering coordinator, shift trades supervisor, and design engineer. I will be applying my technical skills whilst drawing on my experiences from working within a front-line industry where safety and practicability is paramount. I have a passion for hands-on experiences and learning and will apply myself to any task at hand.

Tahlia has worked in several hospitality jobs from a young age, attained her licence as a level 2 Real Estate Agent, as well several years working in disability and youth support. Tahlia prides herself on her work ethic and drive to achieve, which is also reflected in her own personal hobbies, pursuing Karate to a National level, competing in various equestrian activities, and attaining her PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

Combined, we have several years of experience working in the hospitality industry, as well as holding other job roles orientated around customer services such as seasonal snow lodge staff, surf guiding and bar work. We both highly value leading an active and healthy lifestyle, training regularly and pursuing and pushing ourselves with our common hobbies of surfing, yoga, sailing, diving, snowboarding and kitesurfing.

We are very eager to learn and apply ourselves passionately and wholeheartedly to the task at hand. We believe we are a fantastic team and will make a valuable contribution to any vessel, easily integrating into your existing workforce with our friendly and energetic personalities.

Ideally, we are seeking a role on the same boat as deckhands. However, we are willing to consider any opportunity.
