Job Description
We are currently looking for a Full Time Research Assistant to join our Division of Collections and Support team located at the Chickasaw Cultural Center working .
Summary: Researches, accessions, documents and cares for Chickasaw Nation Collection.
Responsibilities: * Conducts research on artifacts and documents within the Chickasaw Nation Collection
* Conduct research as requested by visitors of the Chickasaw Cultural Center, internal Chickasaw Nation employees and external institutions
* Create scholarly reports to accompany items within the Chickasaw Nation Collection
* Find and recommend new documents and collections for acquisition
* Assist with information for exhibit loan requests
* Assist with educational components to enhance exhibits
* Assist with managing, care and inventory of Chickasaw Nation Collection
* Follow procedures of the Scope of Collections and collection policy manuals
* Assist with inventory input of the Chickasaw Nation Collection
* Create quarterly research reports
* Maintain orderly systems for the management of the Chickasaw Nation Collection
* Assist with maintaining archival storage areas in good condition
* Assist with periodic inventories of Chickasaw Nation Collection
* Assist with digitization efforts of archival material
* Provide excellent customer service to visitors of the Chickasaw Cultural Center
* Assist with duties of the Holisso: The Center for Study of Chickasaw History and Culture and the reception area
* Assist with historical or cultural trainings as needed
* Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types

* Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.
* Performs all other duties as assigned

* Knowledge of Proficio software, other museum/collections software
* Develop and apply proficiency in computer systems and applications as required by role and responsibilities
* Knowledge of archeology, archives, records and research methods
* Organizational and time-management
* Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management
* Ability to write clearly, concisely, and accurately (e.g. Reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals demonstrating logic focus, critical thinking, and clarity with a diverse group of people, including employees, clients, general public, outside entities, administrative staff, and co-workers)

* Basic Computer skills

* 2 years directly related experience
Education: Essential:
* High School, GED or Equivalent

* Bachelors Degree in directly related field

* Bachelors degree in Library Science, Museum Studies, Native American Studies, History or related field
Credentials: Essential:
* Pass general background check
* Standard Driver's License

* May be required to work after hours or on weekends as needed

* Potential exposure to dust and mold
* Pass pre-employment drug test
